FIRST STOP
My first stop was Hanchey Bamboo Resort near Kampong Cham. That is what initially took me off track as you can see from the map. My intention was to follow the Tonle Sap on route six as a direct route to Siem Reap but that all changed after my first stop! I’m glad it did. I met some wonderful people and saw some fantastic sights I would have missed out on.

Admittedly I had gone off route on purpose for the first stop. City living was getting to me so I needed a peaceful retreat, and I found just what I was looking for!

It was a particularly hot day and I had been on the road a good while so the pool was so refreshing.

It was here that I met Gisele and tried my hand at yoga for the first time. I’m definitely not a natural but I found it so calming, moving parts of the body that hadn’t moved in years and clearing all thoughts from my head, concentrating on my breathing. Such a wonderful location too, looking out at the Mekong. Gisele was such a good yoga teacher, explaining how it all works and very patient. Which she needed to be with me! Check her out online for any yoga tips or lessons, she really is marvellous. You can find her at www.instagram.com/gisele_yoga_coach. I can’t recommend her enough!

Sadly though, as the sun set on my fourth night it was time to move on to the next location.
